Hi, my name is Robert. I am a fully qualified mountain guide who specializes in the Table Mountain region. A nature enthusiast at heart who has a passion for finding different types of Indigenous Cape Fynbos. I also love to help people wherever I can.
Reasons to hire a qualified hiking guide:
Local knowledge. This can be indispensable in terms of local advice and warnings. They can also point out places of interest.
Medical qualifications. All guides have undergone the Wilderness First Responder course in case of emergency.
Intimate with the area. Guides know the mountain well and know the local flora and fauna.
Guides understand Baboon behavior and can advise accordingly.
Guides are prepared for any scenario as they have the right qualifications and experience.
Insured -Liability cover incase someone gets hurt.
We need to know:
- If you have any health issues, specifically if you need chronic medication.
- If you feel you will need any form of assistance.
- If you are afraid of heights or have other phobias (Spiders, water etc.)
- If you have any specific dietary needs, we can prepare something different for you.
- Details of availability/qualifications/information on national standards or guiding agencies:
- All hiking guides must be qualified for the type of trip and needs to be registered with the Tourism bureau or CATHSETTA. The national standards a guide must follow are the 1993 Tourism Board Act and the 2nd Tourism Amendment Bill. All Qualifications will be on hand during hikes.
- Go/No go criteria:
- The trained guide will have last call on go/no go criteria. They must remember that you are their responsibility. To ensure safety, a quick risk assessment will be conducted using the following scale:

- Guide ratio:
- One guide per 12 adults. One guide per 4 children.
- Restriction to participation:
- Drinking or using narcotic drugs
- Incorrect gear
- Anyone not medically fit
- Anyone with communicable disease
- Anyone who is a danger to themselves or others
- Anyone with criminal intent
